 What does UNISEX sizing mean?

All shirts are unisex sized unless otherwise noted, which means the fit is roomier and TRUE TO SIZE for MEN, but go ONE SIZE DOWN for WOMEN, depending on how you like your shirts to fit and taking into consideration potential shrink. Measure a shirt you already own and refer to the sizing charts that are included on each item page to get the right fit.

Fabric Content:

Fabric content varies by the type of shirt you select. Please note the differences below:
Solid Color tees are 100% Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton.
Ash is 99% Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton, 1% polyester.
Heather tees are 52% Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton, 48% polyester.
Athletic Heather & Black Heather are 90% Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton, 10% polyester.

What Does Airlume Combed & Ring-spun mean?

Per the Bella + Canvas website, Airlume is the highest grade of cotton you can get, with 2.5x more impurities removed than standard ring-spun cotton.

Carded Open End Cotton (C.O.E) is the cheapest form of cotton. It is not spun and is full of impurities*, which means a scratchy, rough shirt. Kinda like wearing burlap.

Ring-Spun means the cotton has been spun to make a nice long strand of yarn and the short fibers have been removed making a softer, more durable cotton.

Combed & Ring-Spun means the raw cotton is “combed” to remove impurities and short and mid-size strands. Short strands can poke out of the fabric and be irritating to your skin. Then the hanks of long strands are ring-spun to make the cotton yarn. This process means a smaller yield of usable cotton, but a much softer, better quality product. Combed cotton is also more durable because the small, breakable fibers have been removed.

Airlume Combed & Ring-spun is a step beyond combed & ring spun. Bella + Canvas applies an additional combing to remove even more impurities and produce an exceptionally clean cotton. Only long cotton staples are used in making the cotton yarn, meaning less stray fibers in your finished product. The end result is a cleanest, smoothest, and softest cotton next to your skin.

*Impurities – since cotton is a plant, fresh picked raw cotton has “stuff” in it, like bits of stem or leaf.
